Synopsis

Sayısal Yöntemler ile Mutluluk Kavramına Bakış, (A Quantitative Approach to the Concept of Happiness) redefines "happiness"—often treated as a subjective emotion in modern literature—as a multidimensional and measurable social outcome through the lenses of economics, econometrics, statistics, and data science. Edited by Assoc. Prof. N. Tuba Yılmaz and Prof. Selay Giray Yakut, this work moves well-being research beyond theoretical discourse by analyzing complex datasets with advanced statistical techniques.

The book is structured around three core themes. The first focuses on the conceptual and theoretical foundations using bibliometric analysis and multi-criteria decision-making. The second theme explores individual and societal happiness through relational and decision analysis methods. The third theme examines well-being via indicators, similarities, and temporal dimensions using sophisticated data mining techniques. The chapters cover a wide array of contemporary topics, including workplace happiness, the socio-economic status of women, macroeconomic dynamics, and the impact of the rule of law on public well-being.

Boasting a rich methodological repertoire, the volume integrates panel data econometrics, machine learning, semantic topic modeling (LDA), clustering algorithms (TCLUST), and non-linear regression. Consequently, it serves not merely as a textbook but as a data-driven guide for social scientists, economists, and policymakers. The work provides empirical evidence demonstrating how happiness is intrinsically linked to factors such as economic stability, social justice, and digital interaction.
