Between Friends
Synopsis
Debbie Macomber's "Between Friends" is a poignant story chronicling the enduring lifelong friendship between wealthy Jillian Lawton and working-class Lesley Adamski, who meet in the 1960s; despite choosing dramatically different paths—one becoming a lawyer in New York and the other struggling with early marriage and motherhood—the two women share all of life's turning points, including marriage, parenthood, divorce, and loss, through an epistolary format primarily utilizing letters and notes despite geographical distance; the novel uses this structure to illustrate how the quality and resilience of their bond shapes their lives, ultimately celebrating the unbreakable connection between women across time and adversity.
