Synopsis

This catalogue belongs to the international online exhibition titled "Crowded Loneliness," organized within the scope of the 5th International Media and Society Symposium with the main theme of "Algorithmic Culture" by İstinye University Faculty of Communication. The exhibition focuses on one of the most prominent paradoxes of the digital age: the profound sense of isolation and loneliness felt by individuals despite being constantly online and connected. Through the concept of "Crowded Loneliness," the alienation of the individual from oneself and society within the virtual crowds created by social media and digital platforms is questioned through an artistic language. The catalogue features works by numerous national and international artists and designers such as Aysun Cançat, Ayşe Nur Fidan, Barış Dervent, and Beste Budan. These works visualize how technology transforms human relationships, the impact of algorithms on social interactions, and the emotional void behind digital screens. The exhibition invites viewers to rethink the state of being "connected yet lonely" created by modern communication tools and the reflections of algorithmic culture on individual psychology.
