Synopsis

This book contains the abstracts of the papers presented at the "11th Bioethics Congress" hosted by Sakarya University Faculty of Medicine on May 13-14, 2025. The work covers a wide range of ethical problems created in the field of health by rapidly developing technologies and changing social dynamics. Current topics such as the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and digitalization in medicine, big data, telemedicine practices, and patient privacy on social media are predominantly discussed. Furthermore, classic yet ever-relevant bioethical issues such as refusal of newborn screening programs, vaccine hesitancy, organ transplantation ethics, end-of-life decisions (DNR), and integrity in clinical research are scrutinized. While a systemic and ethical analysis of current health crises specific to Turkey, such as the "Newborn Gang" scandal, is conducted in the work, broader topics like disaster medicine, animal rights, and environmental ethics are also included. This compilation serves as a comprehensive reference source for researchers in the fields of medical ethics, law, philosophy, and health sciences.
